   Division 4 No. 4-ranked Bloomfield Hills Academy of the Sacred Heart battled to a 4-4 draw with Catholic High School League rival Farmington Hills Mercy in girls tennis action on Tuesday, April 27, at Mercy.

   Sacred Heart is the two-time defending Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 4 champion. Mercy competes in Division 1. Sacred Heart has won six MHSAA girls tennis championships in the past decade (2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019).

   The 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic.

   With Mercy holding a 4-3 lead on Tuesday, the match came down to No. 4 singles.

   Sacred Heart sophomore Eve Jackson edged Mercy junior Maggie McLogan in a two-and-a-half-hour marathon to tie the match at 4-4.

   Sacred Heart also earned wins at No. 1 doubles (junior Marisa Nafso and freshman Kayla Nafso), No. 2 doubles (freshman Lulu George and

 freshman Margaret Pulte), and No. 3 doubles (junior Angelina Kakos and senior Noor Simon).

   The Gazelles improved to 6-0-2 on the season. Their other tie was to Division 3 No. 9-ranked Pontiac Notre Dame Preparatory.

   Mercy earned wins at No. 1 singles (senior Maddie Sullivan), No. 2 singles (senior Meg Demkowicz), No. 3 singles (junior Sophia Jarvis), and No. 4 doubles (sophomore Stella Johnson and senior Sophia Tesic).

   Sacred Heart hosts Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central on Thursday, April 29 and competes in a tournament in Portland on Saturday, May 1, that includes Division 4 powers No. 6-ranked Ann Arbor Greenhills, No. 8-ranked Portland, and Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Preparatory.

   Mercy travels to Division 1 No. 2 Bloomfield Hills On Thursday, April 29.

   The CHSL championship is set for Saturday, May 15, with MHSAA regionals the week of May 17.
